Breast Cancer and Intention

Posted: 01 Dec 2009 01:46 PM PST

Breast cancer as any other disease is created by our negative thoughts and by our choosing. Why? Because, we want to experience life in all aspects of it! I understand that it is part of our spiritual growth, as human beings.

The dictionary defines intention as; intending, purpose, meaning, significant.

The court of law says that the intention with which a person acted counts. It can acquit him or find him guilty.

The universal definition of intention is: total clarity concerning what a person intends to accomplish.

How does it work in reality?

When we have clear intention about our goals, with no second thoughts or "buts," the intention magically transforms into a manifestation. The fact is that whatever we focus our intention on manifests in our lives at the exact moment we need it.

Here is a personal experience I had of manifesting with pure intention.

Some years ago I purchased thirty self-improvement and spiritual growth books - fifteen of them called "Living Deliberately" and the other fifteen entitled "Resurfacing." They arrived in a big box along with 15 tapes and 15 packaging boxes.

Since it was a big box, I could not carry it upstairs. I decided to store it in a locker that I have on the wall of the stall where I park my car. I reasoned that whenever somebody was interested in buying the set of books, I could just retrieve them from the locker.

One day, after leaving in the morning and returning around noon, I saw something unusual while parking my car. The door to my locker ajar and another locker door next to mine also open.

I got out of my car, opened the locker door, and saw that it was totally empty. Everything I had stored was gone, including my books worth $500! I didn't care about the other items I stored there that much. But, the books were very important to me. The books were about personal and spiritual growth and I had intended to sell them.

The first thought that went through my mind was, "How did I attract such a person? What did I do wrong? What were my thoughts the days and weeks prior to the break-in? Did I have negative thoughts? What was my state of mind?"

My second thought was, "How do I get the books back?

I was determined to get my books back. I figured out that the person, who took them was probably hanging around the area and would be back for more loot.

So, I typed a note on a sheet of paper, in big letters, saying the following:

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE

EVERYTHING ELSE YOU TOOK FROM THE LOCKER YOU CAN KEEP

HOWEVER THE BOOKS MEAN A LOT TO ME BUT THEY DON'T MEAN ANYTHING TO YOU

PLEASE RETURN THEM WITH NO QUESTIONS ASKED

I THANK YOU IN ADVANCE

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!

I taped the note on the locker door on Thursday evening. The following Saturday I arrived home around 1:00pm. While parking my car, I saw a box on the floor below my locker. I got out of the car with my heart pounding. Kaboom! Kaboom!

"OK," I say to myself. "Calm down. Calm down."

I got out of the car and looked in the box. And what do you know? It was the same box that had been taken from me. The books were returned. Only one book was missing - one copy of "Living Deliberately."

You can imagine my excitement!

I had used my pure intention on this person without any second thoughts or reservations; the person received the message and returned the books in the original box.

Some would say that there could be another reason for him to return the books. I believe it was because I appealed directly to this person's soul.

What do you think was the reason for the return of the books? What is your opinion? Do you believe that it was the pure power of intention?

Advanced Breast Cancer Diagnosis

Posted: 01 Dec 2009 01:44 PM PST

A routine breast examination is advised for all women to identify any suspicious lumps so that breast cancer detection is made as early as possible. Mammography is the most common first line screening tool for breast cancer. But in some cases, mammography may miss some abnormalities, especially if the woman's breast tissue is dense. Sometimes dense breast tissue and cancers may appear similar in mammography.

So, a lump that may be felt manually may appear as normal breast tissue when screened through mammography which may then lead to a biopsy to confirm cancer. But now, even the cancerous tissue that mammography misses can be identified by a new diagnostic technique called breast specific gamma imaging.

This is different from mammography, sonography or MRI. The imaging in breast specific gamma imaging is not anatomical, but functional. It is also much superior to traditional screening methods because gamma imaging picks up cells that are beginning to act cancerous even before the abnormality becomes advanced enough to be visible on a mammogram or a sonogram.

Even in women who are diagnosed with Breast Cancer using other methods, breast specific gamma imaging may prove beneficial because it can highlight other malignant lesions that might have been missed by the mammography or the physical exam.

The malignancies that are identified during diagnoses form an important aspect in determining the treatment to be administered. Sometimes, the gamma imaging may provide crucial information that necessitates important differences in the therapy.

Mammography relies hugely on the structure of the breast to identify cancers. Breast specific gamma imaging, on the other hand, tracks the uptake of a radiotracer or a dye by breast cancer cells. The BSGI technology uses a special dye that is injected intravenously. The absorption rate of the dye by normal breast tissue and cancerous tissue vary significantly and it is this property that helps identify breast cancer. A gamma camera is used to track the dye and the malignancies or lesions are identified digitally.

The diagnostic procedure is also comfortable compared to other methods. The woman only needs to be seated comfortably and the entire procedure is over within 40 minutes. The results can also be read immediately. Breast specific gamma imaging is especially useful to detect breast cancer in women who have dense breast tissue, breast implants or scar tissue. In such cases, a mammogram may be hard to read and gamma imaging can come in quite handy.

In fact, about 20 percent of the women who have breast cancer have normal mammogram readings. The significance of BSGI is not to be underestimated.

Breast Cancer and the Benefits of Forgiveness

Posted: 01 Dec 2009 12:38 PM PST

Generally speaking, it is easier to forgive others than forgiving ourselves for our own mistakes. The best way to learn how to forgive yourself is to make a list of everything that you think you did from minor mistakes to bigger mistakes. Then forgive yourself. Some people cured themselves of breast cancer just by forgiving.

You probably ask yourself, how to do the forgiveness process.

Please follow the below steps in order to forgive.

1. Just like me, this person is seeking happiness in her/his life.
2. Just like me, this person has known sadness, loneliness, and despair.
3. Just like me, this person is trying to avoid suffering in her/his life.
4. Just like me, this person is learning about life.

While doing the exercise, put yourself in their situation and imagine feeling how they are feeling. In addition to that, repeat the following statements to yourself:

A. I now release all the negative energy that influenced my life and forgive those people who harmed me.
B. I choose to live in divine inspiration.
C. I am grateful for divine inspiration.

Release any negative energy and let it drain out into the Universe.

You can use the same procedure forgiving yourself. But this time you use it on your list that you made earlier.

You will be surprised how lighter you will feel afterwards.

The benefits of forgiveness are too numerous to mention. However, here are some fundamental benefits:

- Accelerated healing, both emotionally and physically
- Relief from stiffness and chronic pains
- Relief from depression and resentment
- Increase in physical strength
- Stress reduction
- Immune system booster
- Better digestion
- More positive outlook
- Increase awareness and intelligence
- More energy, more control (physically and mentally)
- Relief from self-sabotaging
- More restful sleep
- Longer life
- Increased happiness
- Faster reaction time
- Friendlier, more tolerant
- More successful
- Ability to establish new relationships
- Peace of mind
- A NEW LIFE

Could you benefit from any of these? Of course, you could! The pathway to getting these benefits is through forgiveness.

-Forgive yourself for your faults and your mistakes and move on.

Breast Cancer and Turmeric

Posted: 01 Dec 2009 07:26 AM PST

I got a phone call the other day from a dear friend of thirty years who has been suffering with the devastating effects of a virulent form of breast cancer. She wanted to ask me about something she had read in the breast cancer magazine that she receives. Amongst the ads and informational articles about breast cancer treatment, was a recommendation that she include something called turmeric in her diet, and she wanted to know what it is and how she could most easily incorporate it into her eating plan. I was so happy to oblige her with information, since I think it may really help!

Turmeric is that bright yellow spice that gives mustard its distinctive yellow color and is used in Indian curries. It comes from the root of the Curcuma Longa plant and is sometimes called "Indian Saffron." It is native to India and Southeast Asia, although its warm, peppery flavor is popular around the world. Although turmeric has been used for thousands of years, recently it has been added to the list of "super" foods for a variety of reasons:

Anti-inflammatory

Inflammation is your body's response to cellular injury that, if prolonged, can lead to disease. The pigment in turmeric, which is called "curcumin," has been shown to be an effective anti-inflammatory-and without the side effects of many drugs that are sold for this purpose. According to a study done at the University of Michigan, curcumin gets into the cells and makes them more orderly, allowing the cell membranes to have better control over substances that flow in and out of the cell and thus providing a protective effect against malignancy and infection. This has implications in the prevention of cancer, arthritis and other diseases.

Anti-oxidant

The curcumin in turmeric has anti-oxidant capabilities, which helps protect your body against the cell damage caused by free radicals. The bright yellow color of turmeric is a clue to its anti-oxidant properties, since the bright pigments in foods seem to have this protective power.

Aids liver in detoxification

Your liver works hard 24/7 to rid your body of all of the toxic substances that you inhale, ingest and produce as your body functions. There is good evidence that the curcumin found in turmeric may help the liver to detoxify certain toxic chemicals. This is significant, especially as our air, water and food become more toxic.

Cancer prevention

Due to its anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidant and detoxing properties, the curcumin found in turmeric may help protect you against cancer. There is also evidence that curcumin helps the body to destroy cancer cells and thus may inhibit the growth of tumors. Studies have been done that demonstrate that those who consume turmeric regularly have a lower incidence of breast, prostate, colon and lung cancer.

Aid in preventing Alzheimer's Disease

As our population ages, there is increasing concern about the prevalence of mental disease such as Alzheimer's. A number of studies have been done which show that several active ingredients in turmeric may affect your body's ability to ward off Alzheimer's disease, including boosting your immune system, affecting gene coding and improving brain chemistry. Interestingly, the incidence of this devastating condition is very low amongst the old people of India, and it may be due, at least in part, to their daily consumption of turmeric in the curried foods that are popular in Indian cuisine.

Helps your heart

The curcumin found in turmeric has been shown to help your body to eliminate bad cholesterol (LDL) as well as helping to prevent the oxidation of cholesterol. This protects your blood vessels from damage and helps to prevent the build up of plaque in your arteries. This is significant in reducing your risk of heart disease and other cardiovascular disorders.

Even weight control!

A recent study suggested that turmeric may even have a role to play in weight control! Apparently, the curcumin found in turmeric helps to slow the formation of body fat, even when a significant amount of fat is consumed in the diet. Although, I am not recommending a new "Turmeric Weight Loss Plan," including turmeric in your diet can only help, especially when you consider all of its other benefits.

What about vitamins and minerals?

Like many spices and herbs, turmeric is a good source of the mineral, manganese. It also has significant amounts of Iron, Potassium and Vitamin B6.

How do I get turmeric into my diet?

Although enjoying some nice Indian curry may be one way to get some turmeric into your diet, it is certainly not the only way. In fact, curry powders often have less turmeric in them, than you might imagine.

Here are some ideas for incorporating turmeric into your diet:

You can make tea from turmeric by simmering a teaspoon of the powder in about four cups of boiling water for about 10 minutes. Strain the tea and sweeten, if desired. (There are also commercial turmeric teas available, if you prefer.) Some ginger root or a ginger tea bag may be added for additional benefits and flavor.

Add turmeric to egg salad, deviled eggs and macaroni salads. Add turmeric to soups, chili, meatloaf, or Sloppy Joes. Turmeric is a good seasoning for steamed cauliflower with a bit of oil and salt. Look for some Indonesian and Indian brown rice dishes that include turmeric or curry powder. (If they call for curry powder, you can add some extra turmeric.)

My friend with breast cancer wondered if she could take turmeric as a supplement. Of course that is a possibility, but with all the pills she is already taking, why add more, when there are so many ways to incorporate turmeric into her diet? I would also be leery of taking a "curcumin" supplement, since the whole food may be necessary to get all of the wonderful benefits.

Although I am thrilled that my friend is adding turmeric to her regimen, I am not suggesting that turmeric is a cure for breast cancer. However, every little thing we can do to help our bodies fight this savage disease, is a step towards beating it. In the case of turmeric, you get to enjoy the pungent flavor along with the numerous benefits.

Breast Cancer Screening Methods

Posted: 01 Dec 2009 05:53 AM PST

Since the rate of women who are dying from breast cancer has been steadily increasing lately, it is important that you examine some of the information included in this article for you. The reason that women die from breast cancer is usually because it wasn't detected early enough, which is why it is important for you, as a woman, to know about the various screening methods that can detect a mass which may indicate breast cancer.

Although many women think that there is only one way to screen for this type of cancer, there are actually several. The more common of these two methods is used by doctors during routine checkups.

The doctor simply feels the breast manually, checking from any lumps or masses that can mean cancer. If there are traces that may indicate cancer, he or she might recommend some ultrasonic or radiological tests be done just to make sure. These are simply ways of enhancing the methods used to check from breast cancer in women, and are often times very accurate and helpful in detecting it early on.

The second screening method that is used is called mammography. This method is highly praised in the medical field because of how accurate it can be as well as the speed at which the test is done. The reason that this method is so accurate is being it can detect smaller lumps that a doctor may not notice while doing a manual check.

Another way to detect lumps on the breast that may or may not be cancerous is using an MRI machine. This is also an extremely accurate way of checking for breast cancer, because it too can detect small lumps or masses that may indicate the presence of cancer. The sooner you get these tests done, the better your chances will be of surviving, so you can live a long and healthy life.
